Our Legacy Scholarships
Each year, we award two scholarships of $2,500 to cover dance class tuition at Wonderland Ballet Company.

Art itself is often viewed through the lens of its final state — a closing performance and finished product with tangible form. Yet, in understanding its Latin root, ars, meaning a specific skill or craft, one may view art as a process in itself; art does not merely occur at the completion of a work; it unfolds throughout the course of creating that work.
The Micah Mahan Scholarship embodies a dancer whose love for dance lies as much in the learning process as in the finished product, and who approaches the art of dance with curiosity, authenticity, and introspection. Furthermore, it represents a student who is a natural-born leader and teacher, and who takes joy in uplifting others — both on stage and off.
In loving memory of brother, son, friend, and lifelong learner, Micah Mahan — whose legacy serves as a reminder that, as humans, we are not only who we are at our “final bow,” but rather, we are the sum of the moments that unfold throughout our journeys.

From individual moments of self-improvement to the communal success of a sold-out performance to the relationships nurtured and memories created in the interim, dance is meant to be celebratory and joyful.
The Celebration of YOU Scholarship embodies a dancer whose joy is felt both on and off stage, a dancer who brings happiness to their community through the way they treat others. Furthermore, this scholarship represents a student who celebrates authenticity, both within themselves and in others, and who understands that one of the greatest gifts a human can give another is the opportunity to be exactly who they are meant to be, without judgment.
In loving memory of Bob and Bobby Gasser, Dick and Linda Livingston, Ambrose and Dolores Borgetti, and John and Margaret Beery, who were grandparents who exemplified love for others and encouraged joy and humanity in others.

Legacy Scholarship FAQs
What are legacy scholarships?
The purpose of a legacy scholarship is to honor your loved one while providing a scholarship to cover tuition costs for student artists.
How do I create a legacy scholarship?
First, identify the person or people whose legacy you wish to honor. Bring your idea(s) to Project Wonderland via phone or email, and we'll review them as a Board. Once approved, you'll work with Catherine to create the scholarship and prompt that best exemplifies your loved one.
How long does a legacy scholarship last?
Per Project Wonderland's bylaws, legacy scholarships last for four (4) years, with one scholarship awarded per fiscal year. This structure helps ensure consistency across the scholarships for which students apply.
Who can create a legacy scholarship?
Anyone is welcome to propose a legacy scholarship to Project Wonderland's Board of Directors — Catherine, John, and Moriah!
How much do I need to donate to create a legacy scholarship?
Legacy scholarships total $2,500 per year.
What if I want to donate but don't want to create a legacy scholarship?
Thank you for your generosity and interest in donating to Project Wonderland! Every dollar makes a difference in students' fine arts education. Project Wonderland accepts donations via cash, check, and Zelle — see our Donate page for details.

To create a legacy scholarship, you'll first need to determine the person or people you wish to honor. You'll also need to make a $2,500 donation to Project Wonderland for your legacy scholarship. Per our bylaws, we ask donors to commit to funding their legacy scholarship for four (4) years.
